Integrated Media Gallery

Our forum now has an integrated media gallery at http://forum.gridrep.org/index.php?action=mgallery. As soon as you are logged onto the forum, you also have access to post to the media gallery. The gallery is not limited to still images, but requires Javascript and Flash support in your browser.

Allowed File types

    * Image files: bmp, png, gif, jpg, jpe, jpeg
    * Audio files: mp2, mp3, mpga, ram, ra, wax, wma, m4a, a-latm, ogg, rpm, mka, wav
    * Video files: avi, mpg, mpeg, mpe, wmv, mxu, m4u, movie, qt, mov, rv, flv, mp4, mkv
    * Multimedia archives: zip

    * Maximum File Size Allowed: 40 MB

This means you no longer need to pay upload fees as you can "Snapshot to Disk Ctrl-`" save to a file on your computer and upload the images directly to the Website. Please choose a high resolution image (I recommend using png format) and email a full resolution copy to gridrep.magic@gridrep.org with a subject of SOS PICTURE.

A few additional points:

- Media Gallery is open for viewing by non-members as well
- If you upload pictures in *.jpg instead of *.png (as suggested by Hermit) the file sizes will be ~10 times smaller.  I suppose jpg quality is good enough to serve the purpose of the galleries - to showcase what will be lost should LL go forward with their plan.
